To Furlough and Beyond!

Posted on March 26th, 2013

December 1, 2012, Keith, Elise and I, Robin, left Africa for the US and we thought for only 3 months!  However, events have pushed our furlough to 5 months!  Joyful events!  Elise and Rob have decided to marry and have chosen Texas for the wedding site.  Wow! Have we been busy!  It has been so much fun preparing with the only negative being Elise has not been here to be a part of the fun!  Thankfully, via Skype and email I have been able to see what she envisions and am able to buy and collect what we need for the wedding.  With help from family and friends, it will be a fantastic wedding!
So we are sad that we will not be there for the Easter Sunrise Service on the banks of the beautiful and peaceful Chobe River!  But we rejoice that we will be here with family and friends.
Our return to Botswana will be May 6th, where we will hit the ground running!  When we left, the trucker's chapel was about to be put in place,  Now it is not only in place but wonderful Christian brothers have cleared the ground around it, put the window glass in and are preparing it for the grand opening on our return!
The pupils that I tutor at Chobe River School are continuing into the new school year with great progress!  One received top honors for his class and another received the "Most Improved" award!  Wow! Did I feel honored by my students!
As the new year unfolds, Elise who is in Botswana until the wedding, relates that Collins and Rob, both new born in Christ in November 2012, are leading studies and growing in their faith.
Furlough has been refreshing spiritually, yet at times tiring physically as we journey all around the great state of Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma.  Being with our families, friends and supporters revives us and we are eager and excited about our return to ministry in Botswana.
